Coomera Anglican College Students Relay for Cancer Cure

Students from Coomera Anglican College are preparing for their 8th Relay for Life on 28 – 29 October, an event that has seen them raise more than $21,000 for the Cancer Council since their involvement began in 2010.

The Cancer Council’s initiative not only recognises and celebrates those who have overcome cancer, are undergoing treatment as well as the memory of loved ones lost, but raises vital funds for research.

Held at the College campus, more than 80 students will join the fight against cancer on Saturday 28 October and take turns walking in four different groups during the night until the event ends at 9am the next morning.

Coomera Anglican College’s Relay for Life Coordinator, Elton Stirling, said the College was honoured to be involved in the event and to make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.

“Coomera Anglican College saw Relay for Life as an opportunity to contribute to and support the wider community – while at the same time remembering and honouring loved ones lost to cancer,” said Mr Stirling.

“The College has raised more than $21,000 to date; funds that have not only been used to support, assist and educate newly diagnosed cancer patients on their cancer journey but helped fund ground-breaking research into new and better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat this disease,” he said.

“Relay for Life gives the students a chance to challenge themselves, get together with the rest of the community and fight back against the disease that claims so many lives each year.”

Members of the public encouraged to get involved in the event and are also invited to donate to Coomera Anglican College’s CACABURRA’S Relay for Life team here.
